Festive Fun - Xmas Eve in Warbuton

For many years when Lori & Markus lived in East St Kilda, they had a Christmas Eve party at their place. We were lucky enough to go along twice which was great fun. Upon moving to Warbuton, unfortunately distance made the tradition stop but this year (2008) Lori suggested starting it up and invited us & Alf & Emma & Gadiya to stay the night and participate. Arriving about 6pm after working that day, we enjoyed a bit of Australian sparkling and French champagne along with a special Tapas to cover off all the ridiculous food issues that we all have (including variously issues with gluten, mushrooms, berries, shellfish, pork, bacon, bananas and full cream milk!) Lori kept a very calm approach and apparently still loves us.

The food and company was fantastic and we ate, drank and played various crazy games till the early hours but decided we had to wait till after sleeping to open any presents.

About 7am Esra woke up Alf & Emma, Gadiya & Lori woke about 7.30am and I scrambled out of bed about 8am. Mark dragged on a bit and Markus pulled up the 'rear'. We were all desparate to open presents and the front room was overflowing (in a small way) with discarded wrapping paper and lots of excited squeals - mainly from me (upon receiving the Penguin Popular Classics series - all 50!) and from Esra about his presents.

Afterwards we had a beautiful breakfast (which we didn't really need) and had to leave about 11.30am to reach Sandra's in time for Christmas Day lunch.

After a traditional Boldiston family Christmas lunch, we left about 4.30pm to come back home. We would have love to 'crash' but we were actually hosting Roma, Harry, Sandra, Ray & the kids for dinner at our place! We made a very simple Vintners (Roast) Chicken with lovely red grapes and herbs. Sandra et al stayed in a nice hotel not far from us and planned on some serious shopping in the Boxing day sales, whilst Roma & Harry took a taxi home about 10.30pm.

We eventually got to bed around midnight exhausted but happy with our day. Just need to do heaps of walking to deal with all that food!
