It was a Monday and we had the day off as we were originally going to be having a mini-break in Noosa for the weekend but cancelled it when we got out very last minute invitation (typical Pete!) and we happily did so.
When Pete said the wedding would be at 4.30pm and dinner in the city, not till 7.30pm, I casually suggested we host drinks and nibbles at our place in between. Mark laughs about how we heard nothing specifically about him taking up the offer until we got the wedding invitation about a week later with directions to our apartment on it! Mark assumed he didn't need to RSVP in this instance.
After a beautiful service in the Marriage Registry with Pete's immediate family and a small number of very close friends, we took numerous pictures outside Treasury House and then hopped on a City Circle tram (including Marie in a gorgeous Colette Dinigan dress) to the apartment and had a lovely 90 mins hosting 16 people at our place.
We then walked down Flinders Lane to The French Brasserie (also our suggestion but never eaten there before) and had a spectacular meal. The staff were excellent and to finish Pete & Marie had organised a Cup cake wedding tier and we had fun taking photos of them eating the 'cake' American style. They were divine - pistachio marzipan inside and delicate soft cup cake mix outside.
It was lovely to see both Pete and Marie, so obviously in love and we know they'll be enjoying themselves in Brazil and seeing Marie's family and friends on their honeymoon.
