24th May - Andrew & Su-LI

Tonight we witnessed another beautiful wedding, the second in a week! This was Andrew & Su-Li's special day. It started around lunchtime with a Chinese tea ceremony that only the immediate family and bridal party attended. (It sounded amazing and I would have loved to see it).

Then come 6pm we all dressed up for a lovely wedding ceremony with several jokes and funny moments (including a reading from Christopher Robin). With 4 stunning bridesmaids and 4 groomsmen, the reception was at Zinc @ Fed Square, a beautiful function centre right on the water which was very elegantly presented.

With 180-odd guests and amusing speeches from both father's, maid of honour, best man and the each of the happy couple, there were tears in many peoples eyes (both from laughter and sad tales, particularly how hard Andrew's life was when he was younger. Having the smaller bedroom, the worst toys, etc).

The food, wine and setting was fantastic and we've never been so close to the bridal table (which was actually in the middle, rather than the edge of the room). It certainly helped that it was a table of close friends and the partners of the groomsmen.

We had a boogie at times with the live music and were last to leave after Iain, Mark, Sam and Andrew had some special cognac at the end, even breaking a glass!

It was a brilliant night and after the bridal couple left in a taxi for the very short drive to the Sofitel, Iain, Helen, Mark and I totted up the path to our apartment and had a nightcap before eventually getting off to bed around 3.30am with pleasant smiles and feeling we'd feel worse for wear in the morning!
