Sat 1st Nov - Jaipur

This morning we had to wake up early for a 6hr train trip to Jaipur in the Rajastan area. We were surprised that there was more leg room in the train than most economy airlines! We were staying at Bissau Palace which was actually a palace years ago. India had 22 principalities and there were many hundreds of palaces years ago. Now many of them have been converted to small hotels (of varying standards) for Tourists. Bissau has exceptional wall decorations and looks beautiful on first glance but behind the scenes in the rooms, was missing a few elemental things like a fridge and TV.

We took a bus to the Amber Fort where we were constantly assaulted by touts as we climbed and descended. The Amber fort is truly spectacular, created in 1600, 28 kings lived here over 500 years.

That night we went to a Bollywood film (Golmaal Returns) in Jaipur city but it was the song and dance kind we were expecting, rather a very very bad comedy and everyone felt the same was, so at intermission, we left to go to dinner at a mediterranean restaurant on a rooftop which we never would have approached by ourselves. We lucked out with a Fireworks display for I'm not sure what reason and the boys had 'special tea', beer served in very fancy tea pots.
