Sun 2nd Nov - Jaipur

Today was a free day in Jaipur and so with Veerendra's help (our Inteprid facilitator), we spent the day with 'Sam' who spoke amazing quality English, as well as Dutch, French, German and some Spanish! He was also an ex-cutter and polisher in the jewellery trade.

We saw the City Palace which has over 1500 rooms in it and part of it has been converted into a series of museums for Textiles, Amoury and to highlight the Mughul (Muslim inspred) and Rajput (Hindi) architecture, We also went one of 5 national observatory gardens which had massive sun dials and other paraphenalia to calculate the moon and the stars.

From there we had a quick picture of the Palace of the Winds and then back to the hotel for lunch.

In the afternoon, we went to the Monkey Temple about 40-mins tuk tuk ride from Jaipur with Sam and saw some ritual bathing (Men and women separated) and heaps of monkey's everywhere. It was an extremely sharp and challenging climb to the top in 34 degree heat but worth it whenb we finally reached the top with Betty, Gwyn and Jean-Paul.

We collapsed quite early after dinner.
